In Solidarity with Victims of Tiananmen Massacre 1989
Jakarta, June 6, 2006
Solidarity Message from IKOHI and KONTRAS (Indonesia) on the Commemoration of 17th Anniversary of Tinnanmen Massacre
Dear Tinnanmen Mothers,
On the occasion of the 17th Anniversary of June Fourth Massacre, IKOHI (Indonesian Association of Families of The Disappeared ) and KONTRAS (Commission for The Missing Persons and Victims of Violence) as member of AFAD (Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearance) would like to express our solidarity and support for the courage and determination of the Mothers of Tiananmen, who are seeking justice of their family who were killed, wounded, and made to disappear on June, 4, 1989.
We share your sorrow and anger at the way in which your government refuses to acknowledge your tragic and personal loss. We are with you on your continuing struggle for justice and truth of the Tiannanmen massacre.
We know it’s hard tough because you have not been able yet to achieve event a recognition of justice. The Chinese government still failed to reveal the truth of what happened, punish the perpetrators and rehabilitate and redress the victims and their family.
But amidst this hopeless situation, there is much remaining to be done. We have to continue our struggle to ensure punishment for the perpetrators and to reveal the truth on what really happened at that time. There are still so many tasks to do to end the practice of the heinous crimes of involuntary disappearances and human right violation.
Together, let us help and encourage each other, walk hand in hand to keep struggle towards a better world, a world where human rights are respected and where truth, justice, peace and freedom reign.
At last, we reassure you of our continuing support and solidarity.
More power to the Tiannanmen Mothers!
With Regards,
Mugiyanto
